There’s still no official word on when Shimano’s updated Saint gravity group will be unveiled - my best guess is before 2030, but don’t hold me to that. In the meantime, there’s a new XTR M9220 pedal that’s essentially a slightly smaller (and lighter) version of the Saint clipless pedals.
Aimed at enduro racers and aggressive trail riders (passive trail riders apparently need not apply), the M9220 pedal platform measures 99 x 72mm, and is 18mm thick at the outer center portion. Compared to the XTR M9120 pedals, the 9220’s body has less of a taper at the front and back, and a slightly larger platform on each side of the clip-in mechanism for more shoe support. In addition, there are four pins on each side that can be removed entirely, or have their height reduced by installing small washers.
